Outreach Prayer Guide
Pray with us for our Outreach Ministries, second Sunday, after 2nd service, 12:10-1pm, Room 158.
All those who believe and trust in Jesus have been sent by God to be ambassadors for God’s Kingdom (John 20:21 & 2 Corinthians 5:20). Some of us are simply sent further to different countries of the world and need supporters to help fulfill the call from God to be a minister of the Gospel of Christ into the world. Please join us in supporting our Local and Global Outreach ministries and missionaries through prayer.
Summer 2025
Stephen and Abby Morris — Serving in Asia
Thank you for your love and prayers. We are so grateful for the prayers of the saints at The Chapel. Please keep praying for endurance and patience for us during our linguistics courses. This course is challenging, time-consuming and mind-bending. It's also amazing to learn how we can go from the recorded sounds of a language to understanding how those sounds, and then words and even stories, work together—all with the ultimate goal of bringing the gospel to unreached people groups. We've started a new course within the program entitled Morphology, the study of the forms of words. We'll continue this course until our summer break starts on June 14. Please pray that we'll rest in the Lord and enjoy time with friends and family this summer in both Ohio and Michigan. And pray that we keep parenting our kids with compassion and consistency, demonstrating both God's love and our need for God's mercy and forgiveness.
Akron Internationals Outreach (David John, Volunteer Akron Internationals Leader)
Pray that The Holy Spirit will bring to the students’ minds and hearts the things they have seen and heard during The Fall and Spring semesters.
Pray that we (volunteers) actively create opportunities to 'water' the 'seeds' planted during the fall and spring semesters.
Pray for the summer picnics to build good relationships that will become a primer for meaningful conversations.
Week 1
Mozambique Outreach (Michael Boso, Volunteer Country Director)
A Chapel team will be sent to Mozambique June 26 - July 8. Pray for team unity and that team members would listen to the Holy Spirit lead us with preparation of teaching. Pray for good health and for complete funding. Pray for protection and care of our families while we are away and for strength and endurance to minister well through loving and caring like Jesus.
Cambodia Outreach (Kathi Ferris, Volunteer Country Director)
Many of our Asia’s Hope children are not only being discipled, but they are learning to disciple others while still under Asia’s Hope care. As more kids reach high school and university age, Asia’s Hope is conducting outreach efforts at nearby villages in coordination with small local churches. Pray they will be bold in sharing their faith during these evangelistic outreaches at both local villages and with new people they meet while attending university and afterwards.
Week 2
Church Partnerships - Local Outreach
Pray for our church partnerships with the local churches that meet in our building. We currently have three churches, the Chinese Church, the Vietnamese Church and the Myanmar Church meeting on a weekly basis. Pray that these congregations will proclaim the gospel to their communities. Pray that our building will be a place of intergenerational and multi-cultural fellowship. Praise the Lord that he has gifted us a building that can accommodate all of these groups.
India Outreach (Doug Lauer, Volunteer Country Director)
Pray for the safety of Good Shepherd congregations. Pray for their protection and comfort during the unrest and combat at the Kashmir border. Pray that the political leaders involved would strive for peace and mitigate any further violence.
Pray for Good Shepherd pastors who are facing severe persecution. Pray that as they try to hold church meetings and pray for the sick, they would not be jailed for their efforts. Pray for divine protection on all the Good Shepherd fellowships and their believers in these dangerous days.
Pray that all the students in Good Shepherd Schools will feel confident and empowered as they begin a new academic year in June. As class sizes grow, pray for the personal and financial resources to make the educational experience excellent. Pray that Good Shepherd teachers would make lasting and meaningful connections with students and parents alike.
Pray for Good Shepherd’s healthcare initiative as our workers continue to bring help and healing to the poorest of the poor in India, especially women and at-risk girls facing exploitation and abuse. Pray for the expansion of new health clinics. Pray that the Good Shepherd Community Health Workers would have strength and courage as they minister in challenging areas.
Week 3
Emmanuel Christian Academy - Local Partner
As we move forward, we humbly ask that you continue to lift us up in prayer. Please pray that Emmanuel becomes fully staffed in every area, with teachers who are not only gifted educators, but who also have a deep love for Jesus and a heart for teaching.
Pray also that we reach full enrollment capacity and that we remain steadfast in our mission—not only to administer academic excellence, but to be a place where the Spirit of God moves powerfully and touches every life within our school.
Thank you again for standing with us. Your partnership is both meaningful and deeply appreciated.
Nancy Ware (Missionary serving with WorldVenture in refugee outreach in North Akron)
Pray summer school would go well, and we would have enough volunteers to meet all needs. My cousin Mike has cancer throughout his body and needs Christ. Pray for his heart to be opened to Him.
Pray for kids new to America to learn English, and, in the fall, for freshman to adjust to high school and make wise choices.
Urban Ministries (Lisa Marshall, Director of Urban Ministry)
Please pray for opportunities to share the gospel at Akron Pregnancy Services, Emmanuel Christian Academy and the Refugee summer program. We will have many opportunities to engage with women and children this summer. Pray for teams that will be serving these areas, that they will be bold in their faith and not shy in engaging with those who are different from them.
